*Updated October 27 with a new event*
Halloween is my favourite holiday and while having a baby means that this year’s celebrations will be rather subdued, I still plan on having some fun, thanks in part to the following free, baby-friendly activities taking place in and around my neighbourhood:
Halloween Celebrations at the College -Montrose Children’s Place
October 28, 10:30am
Be sure to dress your little one up for this event, which will feature a costume parade through Artscape Youngplace . I believe the parade will then be followed with songs and stories during an all-ages circle time. Prior to the parade, at 10:15am, there will be snacktime.
*New* The Art of Darkness – Artscape Youngplace
October 28, 5pm-8pm
The artists and organizations that call Artscape Youngplace home are hosting this event aimed at toddlers and little kids. It will feature pumpkin painting, a sticker party, musical performances and for the adults, a bar.
St. Joseph’s Toronto West Halloween Fest in Bloor West Village
October 30, 10am-2pm
This free event features two performances by Sharon and Bram (11am and 1pm), a costume parade, the Scotiabank Hockey Zone and more. It’s a pretty popular party, so consider arriving early.
Jill and the Beanstalk Halloween Party
October 30, noon-4pm
This all-ages event offers “…spooky games, treats, dancing and prizes!” Wearing a costume is encouraged and I suspect it might help your baby win one of those prizes.
Halloween Story Time at the College/Shaw Library
October 31, 11am
Babies and toddlers can check out this event that promises songs, rhymes and some not-too-spooky stories. The library will also be offering a Halloween-theme story time and crafternoon for older kids on Saturday, October 29, from 1pm-2pm. Both events take place in the downstairs program room.
