On Saturday, June 11, Dundas West Fest returns to uh, Dundas West. From 11am to 10pm the street will be shut down between Lansdowne and Shaw and instead of being occupied by cars and TTC, it will be filled with local vendors, food and of course people.
There will also be lots of activities, from stuff for kids to dance lessons to music. The lineup for the Lakeview Stage was announced earlier today and it will be headlined by Montreal’s The Dears. Several Toronto acts will also be performing including indie rock band Neon Wave and jazz/funk group The Shuffle Demons, best known for their song about the Spadina bus.
While I’ve been a regular attendee of Dundas West Fest for the past few years, this is the first time that I’ll be able to check out the festival at night (historically it’s been held on the same weekend as Field Trip) and take advantages of the numerous extended patios that local bars set up. For that reason alone I was really looking forward to Dundas West Fest but now with the announcement that a bunch of great bands are going to be there, well, is it June 11 yet?
