My Guess On The 2016 Field Trip Lineup

Screen Shot 2016-01-27 at 12.09.29 PMIt sounds like Field Trip is going to announce its 2016 lineup any day now so I figure that I should post my guesses as to who might be performing June 4 or 5 at Fort York and Garrison Common.

I’ll be Shocked If They Aren’t There
Bloc Party – Are signed to Arts & Crafts and have a new album in 2016; also scheduled to perform at Govenors Ball on the same weekend.
Jason Collett – Is signed to Arts & Crafts and have a new album in 2016.
Ra Ra Riot – Are signed to Arts & Crafts and have a new album in 2016.
Reuben and the Dark – Are signed to Arts & Crafts and have a new album in 2016.

Good Chance
BADBADNOTGOOD -Are signed to Arts & Crafts, and are already lining up festival dates. They’ve performed at Field Trip before so maybe this year they’ll opt for a different event (I can see them at Bestival or Wayhome).
M83 – They’re currently scheduled to perform at Govenors Ball on the same weekend and I can see them fitting nicely with the Field Trip vibe.
Majical Cloudz – Signed to Arts & Crafts and have a new album in 2016. But they might opt to perform at Wayhome in order to expand their audience.
Tei Shi – Signed to Arts & Crafts, had a new album in 2015 and is actively touring. She did perform at Bestival last year; perhaps this year her label will want her at their festival.
Tobias Jesso Jr. –  Signed to Arts & Crafts, had a new album in 2015 and hasn’t performed at Field Trip before.

Wouldn’t Be Surprised
Grimes – She’s either at Field Trip or Wayhome.  She’s also touring with Tei Shi so there’s a nice Arts & Crafts connection.
HAIM – They’re at Govenors Ball and would be a great fit for Field Trip. Danielle Haim also has a musical connection to Tobias Jesso Jr.
LCD Soundsystem
 – If they aren’t at Field Trip, they’ll be at Wayhome. Hasn’t James Murphy worked with some of Arts & Crafts’ artists? That might give Field Trip an edge. However, I doubt that Field Trip would have both Grimes and LCD Soundsystem; that combo is just too dance-y for a festival that’s mostly guitar-oriented (though personally I would love to see both of these acts there)
Lowell – She’s an Arts & Crafts artist who performed during one of the early spots in 2014. Her 2016 looks pretty quiet right now but I wouldn’t be surprised if she was popped up on this year’s lineup.
Sufjan Stevens – He’s already lined up a few festival dates; appearing at Field Trip would be a natural next step.
Vance Joy – In 2014 the Australian performed in one of the first LivNat_CBCMusicFest16_poster_11x17_0126022300909slots of the day. Now I can see him coming back to headline. He’s performing a second sold-out show at Massey Hall tonight so perhaps Field Trip is holding off on announcing its Vance Joy-featuring lineup until after that performance.

The CBC Music Festival just announced its lineup today and it features an all-Canadian lineup that’s not bad for $40. I wonder if this news might speed up the Field Trip line announcement.
