A new season of programming for Massey and Roy Thomson Hall was announced on Monday along with this lovely video, which lists some of the highlights. They include everyone from up-and-coming acts like Spencer Burton and Amelia Curran (she provides the song featured in the season launch video) to more established ones like Jill Barber and Ron Sexsmith as well as some pretty big international names like Jay Leno, Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock.
Live at Massey Hall will also be back for a second season. Two dates have been confirmed: Shad on March 27 and one I’m really looking forward to, Hayden and Dan Mangan+Blacksmith, on February 28. Again, tickets for these events will be only $18.94.
If you missed the first season of Live at Massey Hall, head over to its new website and watch the first two videos that have been released from the series. Eventually, eight concert films, one for each of the artists that performed in season one, will be housed here.
To celebrate another year of music and memories, the Halls are throwing a party this Wednesday, August 13, on the Roy Thomson Hall patio (enter using the underground stairs found at the south-west corner of King and Simcoe). Music will be provided by the Classical Albums Live band, which will be performing a variety of Beatles songs. There will also be food from Barque, all of which will be $5, and a variety of drinks. I think there might also be a giveaway or two. The fun starts at 5 pm and features free entry.
For a full look at the season, which will be added to throughout the year, check out the online version of the brochure. And if you want to buy tickets, the public sale starts on Monday at 10 am though lucky American Express members can start their shopping on Friday at 10 am.
